hidrocibalae.hrOverview
Hidrocibalae is a marine geophysical data processing company based in Vinkovci, Croatia, specialized in delivering efficient, high-quality, and innovative solutions through advanced automation. The company employs more than 80 experts, including hydrographers, IT specialists, geologists, geophysicists, GIS engineers, and data scientists, and has developed more than 100 automated workflows to streamline data processing and improve consistency and turnaround time. Its core business is centered on seabed and subsea data processing, primarily for offshore wind farms, cable infrastructure, pipelines, and other marine geospatial applications in areas such as the North Sea and Baltic Sea. In the space-related domain, Hidrocibalae is expanding into Earth observation and satellite-enabled geospatial services. The company is using its hydrographic and geophysical expertise to explore how satellite imagery can complement vessel-based surveys, especially in shallow-water and intertidal environments. Its distinctive value in the Croatian space ecosystem lies in combining marine domain know-how, automation, GIS capability, and practical industry use cases with emerging Earth observation applications relevant to coastal monitoring, seabed analysis, and environmental intelligence.
Core Competencies
Marine geophysical processing, hydrographic data analysis, seabed mapping, geospatial automation, GIS engineering, Earth observation analytics, coastal monitoring, shallow-water bathymetry, web GIS development, environmental assessment
Space Experience
Hidrocibalae is involved in two ESA-funded projects that extend its marine geophysical expertise into the space domain. The first project, Satellite-derived bathymetry in shallow waters and intertidal marine areas, focuses on using satellite imagery to train algorithms for automatic mapping of shallow-water and intertidal zones. The second project, Mapping land suitability for irrigation in Croatian agricultural areas, uses Sentinel-2 imagery and ground-truth data to classify irrigation potential and visualize results through a web GIS platform.
Collaboration Needs
Hidrocibalae is seeking partnerships with universities, research institutions, technology providers, and innovative SMEs active in remote sensing, marine science, coastal modelling, hydrodynamics, and ESA-related geospatial projects. The company is particularly interested in collaboration that improves access to higher-resolution satellite data and supports the development of operational satellite-enabled services for marine and coastal applications
